Spending a little bit cash more for an infused preroll to celebrate an “occasion” is something I’ve been doing for a couple years now.
Whether it’s a birthday or anniversary or new job, it’s good to have special little treats to look forward to. This weekend was one of those type of treats.
On this particular celebratory haul I snagged: a pack of Wyld high CBN infused gummies, a pack of Good Tides, an eighth of High Noon Cultivation’s Tropical Infusion flower, as well as two half-gram hash-infused prerolls (1g total) from the Jetpack brand.
Why Two Half-Grams Are The Perfect Size
I like the concept of quality infused half gram-ers. Convenient, yet potent. They encapsulate the primary purpose of smoking an infused doob; that is that extra thruster boost to pick you up off the ground.
Not that I pay particular attention to weight-per-joint when I’m preroll shopping, but I AM generally pleased when they divide them up as I’d rather light a fresh second lil buddy than re-light one big phattie.
Two half-grams seems to be the sweet spot for a single session that you can either share with one other person or chief all by your lonesome if you should so choose.
That is to say, my tolerance isn’t mad high where I need a full gram to blast off. A half gram kief-infused joint will be pah-lenty for me thank you.
Not that I hate on infused blunts or larger cones, I just can’t finish them myself and prefer not having to re-light something if I don’t have to.
These particular Jetpack prerolls featured Rainbow Belts flower (an Archive classic) infused with Purple Punch live hash. So you’re getting that Z fruit bag on top of that classic Purp grape soda flavor profile, which is to say these things have solid flavor.
The Rainbow Belts stood out because of its local connection with Archive Portland who partnered with Oakland’s Purple City Genetics to cross the legendary Moonbow with hype beast “Original Z” to create Rainbow Belts.
Pro Tip: Even if a strain is new to you, it's worth trusting in a favorite breeder’s taste to discover new experiences. Just like with trusting a brew master to serve you up something special on tap, doing so will ultimately lead to a higher number of fulfilling experiences over the long term than simply picking at random.
For the hash infusion Purple Punch is like the perfect choice because of how universally loved it is and how complimentary that big ripe purple grape sweetness is with seemingly anything else exhibiting even the faintest of fruity terps.
While nothing beats a freshly milled DIY doob for flavor, you could indeed taste this Rainbow Belts pre-light up because unlike bottom-shelf prerolls that often use trim/leftovers, these Jetpacks are whole flower-derived.
This is a big win for me. The whole preroll segment is like an inflatable ball pit filled with landmines, the landmines here being the cheapo dry af shake-filled offerings.
So getting an infused option that doesn’t break the bank that not only has some quality genetics inside but which also has flavor, is more of a rarity than it ought to be IMO.
How Do They Smoke Though?
Effect-wise yeah, they’re nice little boosters. Smoked this about 5pm on a Sunday after I missed my window-of-napping-opportunity (cutoff is 3pm) and as such I was in need of a little extra stimulation.
Smoke went down smooth enough. Burning kief is inevitably going to feel a little hotter going down than just flower, like cask strength whisky vs a blend, and is simply the admission to entry for the full infused experience.
The high is what you’d expect for a flower and kief half gram. You wont’ be blitzed all-day but you’ll get high quickly, while consuming less than if you’d just rolled up flower alone.
In a way half-gram infused prerolls are quite utilitarian because of their modest yet efficient nature.
For $12 I’m a satisfied customer. There was a nice selection of Portland Heights Moonrock Blunts available too but I was looking to remain within earth’s stratosphere so those were ruled out, at least on this shopping trip..
Conclusion: Pragmatic Little Pins
So yeah if you’re reading this because you were on a dispensary menu and you saw these Jetpack infused prerolls and want to make sure they’re legit before dropping your money then I can confirm to you that yes, they deliver on that kief-infused experience and no corners appear to have been cut in what feels like an honest product.
These being Rainbow Belts with Purple Punch is also a nice touch and shows someone with a palette advanced enough to pair flavor profiles and entourage effects in a complimentary fashion, which is impressive.
