Scaling a business in a heavily regulated, non-federally legal industry like cannabis is hard enough, but becoming a multistate operator while maintaining a high level of quality is all the more impressive.
It is because of the consistent dosing and natural flavors that Wyld is the gummy brand I most often recommend, and why Good Tide, their line of cannabinoid-enhanced gummies, has become my personal go-to.
The original Wyld lineup, denoted by their unique short hexagonal packaging, is naturally flavored THC and sometimes CBD-enhanced gummies, whereas the Good Tide lineup offer single strain hash rosin with various cannabinoid enhancements available as well.
Reviewed today is a newer addition to the original Wyld lineup: a kiwi-flavored offering enhanced with THCv, a stress-relieving cannabinoid in the “upper” category in terms of effects.
What Makes The Kiwi Flavor Unique
The Wyld kiwi gummies contain a solid 10mg THC, that’s what we need in our edibles to
feel them.
I like 10mg as a serving size. It lines up with alcohol to me, wherein the effects after dosing last about 1 hour and I stay even keeled and logical.
Any more than 10mg at a time and I start to doubt my reaction times and intermittent inability to maintain focus.
Yes, I do often dose higher, specifically with tinctures like Magic Number, but for casual hangs and being functional, 10mg usually does the trick.
With the kiwi gummies, there is also .48mg of CBD, which is an extremely low amount, and I’m assuming an inherent output of the THC or hemp extract (and it is an extract, not live rosin like in Good Tide).
And finally, there is the star of the show, the 10mg of THCv, that makes this a true 1:1 THC: THCv gummy, a relative rarity in the market.
THCv stands for tetrahydrocannabivarin and is considered one of the more “stimulant-leaning” cannabinoids, known to bring potent “hitting” effects, something I certainly associate with certain cultivars that have been long associated with more stimulating effects or what many would refer to simply as “sativa” strains.
Flavor: Tiny Little Tart Kiwi Bombs
Tart. They ain’t skimping on the kiwi juice concentrate, and it IS real kiwi juice concentrate, which is something I admire about Wyld (and Good Tide products) in how natural their flavors are.
If you enjoy eating bits of the kiwi skin, that is more the flavor I get, as opposed to, say, a super-sweet golden kiwi or something. Definitely enjoyable and I could easily eat a handful if they were dosed lower.
It’s worth remembering that these ARE gummies at the end of the day, so the first ingredient is sugar, which is probably the only inherent downside of the gummy dosing method IMO.
But hey, I need my treat once in a while, and if it comes with the added benefit of a solid couple of hours being high, then that makes it all the better.
Effect: Punching Above Its Weight Class
One whole gummy, listed as containing 10.12mg of THC and 0.48mg of CBD and 10.00mg of THCv, consumed with some jasmine tea.
27 minutes in, start to feel effects, doing work and thinking, oh yeah, definitely harder to focus on the task at hand and resist jumping down rabbit holes.
The progression from 27 minutes to the hour mark was linear. Getting lifted went from “I think I feel it” to “I’m feeling it” in an elevator-type manner.
After an hour, I’m definitely feeling the full effects. Compared to other non-THCv enhanced gummies, this feels hella cerebral, head feels kind of like it is stuffed with cotton balls, like how everything is a bit muted when you have a head cold.
At the same time, the processing has not decreased. I constantly feel like I have 4 things I want to do simultaneously, but I only have 1 GB of RAM and can only afford to process one thought spiral at a time.
I think the effect peaked at about 1 hour and 27 minutes in, oddly enough. Just enjoying the gliding aspect now.
I’m excited for a future where the edibles industry continues to evolve. I want to see more companies innovate, try new things, and push the cutting edge of what cannabis food chemistry can do.
Who knows, maybe in 5 years we’ll be enjoying crazy, unique 10mg THC 3mg THCv 7mg CBD-G mega blends?
