After a long rainy Pacific Northwest winter of smoking satiating GMOs and heavy kushes I have finally emerged from my carpeted apartment hole and have naturally been craving something a little more spring appropriate.

Something to match the bright freshness springing up all around me, to open my eyes a bit with a brighter, dare I say, gassier smoke.
Not that getting absolutely bodied by a stinky heavy hitting kush isn’t “eye-opening” in the sense of the word that it is “impressive”.
But in this application I’m referring to it in a more literal sense that I’ve had the hankering for something a little more spicy on the nose, a little more energizing in effect, a little more brain, less body high.
Fortune so had it that Oregrown had a full jar of some fresh big ole nugs of Nitro Fumez from one of my favorite farms in Herbal Dynamics.
I can confidently write, that after smoking through all 3 of my MASSIVE buds of Nitro Fumez (quarter ounce worth) I can confidently say these genetics are just what the doctor ordered when it comes to starting spring off with a bang.
Nitro Fumez is itself a cross between Motorbreath #15 and Candy Fumez. Quintessential candy gas right here.
Bred by Bloom Seed Co., Nitro Fumez made big waves when the Jungle Boys dropped it and I admit I didn’t really know much else about the strain before finding it at Oregrown.
If you haven’t heard of Bloom Seed Company, it’s the legendary Harry Palms company behind legendary strains like Tropicanna Cookies and Grape Cream Cake. This here Nitro Fumez is the first of their gassy offerings I’ve tried.

Motorbreath #15 brings the petroleum with its infamous Chem Dawg and an OG San Fernando Valley kush heritage. This is where the “fumes” characteristics are derived from in Nitro Fumez.
The Candy Fumez parent imparts a fun bit of watermelon sweetness to the flavor profile because it is itself a child of creamy Sherbanger and “The Original Z” (formerly known as “Zkittlez” prior to the lawsuit).
This sugary candy sweetness combined with a refined gassiness is a cool concept and a delight to smoke, vape, or rip from a bong. Not only does Nitro Fumez smell great, taste great, and get you well ripped, but she also produces some lovely buds to boot!
That’s because the Nitro Fumez being reviewed here was cultivated by the hardworking folks at Herbal Dynamics, a solid organic living soil operation out of Eugene, Oregon.
The last strain I smoked that was cultivated by Herbal Dynamics was Ice Cream Cake and I it was easily one of the best cake dessert strains I’ve ever smoked and was so good that it made it to my Top 9 Favorite Strains of all-time list.
So yeah big surprise right? Take some great genetics and cultivate them at a great farm and you’re likely to end up with something pretty special. Yup this is going to be a fun review!

FUGGING HUGE AZZ BUDZZZ!
Seriously, Herbal Dynamics is now just Big Ds to me. Size XL nugs, at least for generally available recreational options.
I don’t know what else to say. Got the whole quarter ounce filled with just 3 heavyweight buds. I think it’s usually 4-5 buds to total up to a quarter, sometimes more, never less.
Yes, yes, yes, size is not everything. Tropicanna Cookies is a kick ass strain that is an example of a stellar smoke wherein the buds are smaller and naturally just kind of knobby and spindly looking.
Maybe I’m immature for being so wowed by big buds, I just think they look impressive.
While there’s no shame in smoking aesthetically pleasing cannabis I do also feel like big well-grown buds tend to lock in their own moisture a little better than the more airy or knobby ones, but that’s according to my sticky fingers-o-meter.
These particular samples aren’t squishy or full of air; the nugs are dense. These buds are big AND thicc. I’ve seen well grown dense buds and I’ve seen big puffy buds but getting big yet dense ones, that doesn’t happen as much but I love it when I do find them.
If you were shooting a movie and needed some prop buds these would be it. Uniform in color and texture, large in size. Standouts in all regards.
Smell: First Class Candied Gas
If you’re not a paint can huffer don’t worry, this isn’t that. Instead Nitro Fumez puts off more of a sweet and fruity kind of gas. Think more along the lines of the kind of fumes you’d smell while drinking a 7/11 Slurpee® while simultaneously filling your tank on a hot summer day.
The terps are vibrant while still being pretty tame in the gasoline department, which I like. The fruit genetics balance the Motorbreath quite well. There’s not a lot of pine or kushy gelato yet there’s still a little Chem Dawg in there, there’s no doubt about it, but it’s tempered well with the Candy Fumez.
Overall I dig it, a lot. Having never uttered “what’s your gassiest?” in a dispensary before that comes as a bit of a surprise to myself. Last time I smoked a strain that combined prototypical sativa gas with a notable counter-balance was Jet Fuel Gelato from Compound Genetics, although I think that one was a little more fuel and a little less sweet than this here Nitro Fumez.
Nitro Fumez would make a PERFECT hot summer afternoon hang-your-feet-in-the-water kind of smoke. You could bring it on the boat for a cheeky fishing trip or share it in the backyard while BBQing.
It’s fresh and exciting without being overly citrusy/limonene-y. The impact and sugary fruit make it a bomb pop to the lungs, colored tongue not included.
Flavor-wise it’s as chill as a cucumber so yeah, don’t let the Motorbreath parent genetics scare you away if you’re not all-gas-all-day-24/7 kind of pothead. The chemy side is well restrained and Motorbreath is enough of a puppy dog that it is actually balanced quite nicely with the more easy-going Candy Fumez.
Overall dry pull and exhale characteristics include bit of petrol with an unexpectedly light and sweet flavor profile. I was a bit surprised to find this one of the more fruity “Z” inspired genetics I’ve smoked. Maybe that bit of gas accentuates it a bit?
The experience is akin to the first few seconds sucking on a Mega Warhead where there is some initial Motorbreath intensity but that fades rapidly to a fruitier, more pleasantly candy-sweet finish from “The Original Z” and creamy Sherbanger in the Candy Fumez parent.
Dry pull gives me a bit of earth and lighter sweeter fuel, like right before you spark up your off-brand lighter fluid-soaked fire pit.
Sensation: Red Eyed But Steady Rolling
Sparking up Nitro Fumez turned out to be way more exciting than I thought it would be, especially two weeks into the jar.
“Gas”, “diesel”, and “chem” archetype terpene profiles aren’t generally in my frequent rotation because my sweet tooth usually wins out if I’m feeling like smoking something uppity.
My initial anxiety around perhaps accidentally picked up a quarter ounce of something that was going to geek me out in a racy-brain kind of way immediately subsided upon initial inhale of a freshly rolled joint of Nitro Fumez.
Nitro Fumez sets off with focused intent and takes you to a frequency that’s just kind of chill. Like eyelids half open but totally cognizant kind of zone where being productive and cooking a tasty dinner or writing a strain review is a breeze because Nitro Fumez keeps on truckin.
There is a beat you can follow so you can enjoy yourself locked into “the zone” catching up on some work blaring Sub Focus Falling Down as you ride the wave of boost Nitro Fumez is injecting straight into your cannabinoid system.
Reflecting on it a bit more the high is rather similar in g-forces to what you would expect from a nitrous injected sports car. Nitrous oxide is usually used to give you some extra boost from an already moving state by injecting more oxygen into the combustion chamber of a vehicle.
Adding up these qualities it becomes obvious this is a solid multi-purpose functional strain where you can wield its power in the form of productivity or you can leverage it to mentally submerge yourself into any given Star Trek Voyager episode.
So if you’re “gas-curious” but haven’t made the leap yet then this would be a good strain to dip your toes into some friendly fuel. You can remain functional and the sweetness rounds of any rough chem edges.
Nitro Fumez is a sweet strain that I will be returning to in the future. It’s bright enough to keep me awake and free of the black hole that is my living room couch or it’s equally seductive mid-length carpeting.
It would be hard to fly under the radar with this though as I struggled to keep my eyes open although idk how much of that was the bud and how much was a couple intense work weeks.
I recently returned from a 3-day trip to Vegas, which is a place I always love stoner-touring because it of its downright stupifying intensity.
Unfortunately I haven’t been that impressed with the Nevada recreational cannabis market scene. I try to tell myself it’s not that bad but shit, when I got back home and popped the top on my Re:Stash jar of Nitro Fumez I was instantly reminded of how good we’ve got it here in Oregon.
