Highland Provisions is a farm that I associate with supremely reliable quality control as it’s one of the first pre-roll brands I’d ever smoked, and I keep finding my way back to them time and time again.
The last two Highland products I smoked were a 3-pack of their kief-infused Sour Garlic Cookies and a 3-pack of Cowboy Kush. I remember because I still have the metal tins because they make great pre-roll holders/carriers/storage units.
Appearance wise, it was of sound construction wrapped up nicely in a Raw cone which was convenient because we find the Raw cones fit nicely into a glass tip we repurposed from a (delightful) Kaviar-infused pre-roll we’d smoked last time in Denver.
The flavor is clean and sharp. This would be a refreshingly crisp, dry summer pilsner if it were booze. High was pretty gradual; think about slipping your 12-foot aluminum boat into the lake on a sunny day with no traffic at the doc.
To be clear, this review is only of the Sour Wilson batter-infused pre-roll (single tube) and not the tins. I’m sure I’ll pick up another one of those before too long to review for you here on Hallowed Gram.
If you’re new to the infused pre-roll game and want to be cautious, then I’d highly recommend these Highland Provisions live rosin batter-infused little joys. It’s more direct than a non-infused high, but it’s a trustworthy date; the Pre-98 Bubba Kush will keep you in her warm embrace.
IDK who Sour Wilson is, but he seems like a nice guy because it was a pretty straightforward high, nice, and calm, which is what I generally prefer.
Kief Infused vs. Live Rosin Infused?
I will say that I felt like the kief-infused pre-rolls hit harder than the live rosin-infused one I just recently tried. This isn’t in any way saying that equates to a “better” one because I don’t smoke pot just for the sheer strength of it.
Cannabis, in my opinion, ought to be smoked for the full character it has developed as a living species on earth.
Some plants are heavy in CBD and other more therapeutic cannabinoids. In contrast, other plants are absolute jewelry displays with some insane trichome development that modern growers have impressively been able to cultivate.
So if you only want the “strongest” thing because you need to prove something to yourself or someone else (hopefully neither, fam), then yeah, opt for the kief-infused ones, or better yet, go buy a cheap one 2-gram infused blunt.
The P98 Bubba Kush was a solid smoke. It went down smooth, not the neighest of coughs or sputters. It wasn’t some exotic type of way in the flavor department, although it tasted fresh, much fresher than, unfortunately, many pre-rolls I’ve bought in recent memory.
The burn was even, and the high was appetite-stimulating and calming. I smoked this on a weeknight, and it was the perfect wind-down through dinner prep and post-dinner TV time.
On the whole, I think the only negatives would be that the plastic tube doesn’t appear to be of recycled material or anything, which would be much preferable to virgin single-use plastic.
[Calyx Containers, we challenge you to think a little harder on the big picture (i.e., earth) when developing your products.]
I still need to buy a larger volume of fresh Pre-98 Bubba Kush from a dispensary and smoke it consistently over a few weeks to form a solid opinion about the stain. Still, at least in how Highland Provisions is serving it up in their infused pre-rolls, I got to say I’m excited to try it again!
Until next time, Pre-98 Bubba Kush, I’ll be missing you.
