While heavy hitting dumpster skunks and GMOs can be a hoot, sometimes ya just want a nice light, clean, refreshing strain for warm days and lighter times.
This is where the cannabis sub-family of “fizzes” come into the picture. Grape Fizz, Melon Fizz, Lime Fizz, whatever your fruity fizz of preference there’s a bright bubbly fruit strain out there to tickle your cannabinoid system.
I found this instance of delicious Strawberry Fizz cultivated by Alter Farms up at Oregon Coast Cannabis in Manzanita, my favorite coastal dispensary in Oregon.

Alter Farms is an clean-green certified organic craft operation run out of southern Oregon that runs old school genetics and have a talent for producing exceptionally tasty CBD strains.
They have made a name for themselves with their high-CBD flower with their Cherry Wine winning 1st place in CBD at the Cultivation Classic 2017, 1st place in sungrown in 2019 with their Purple Wildfire, with their Pineapple Thai CBD winning bronze, and 1st place in 2020 with their sungrown Pineapple Wine, and 1st in 2021 with their Banana Punch #6.
Essentially, they are a dominant force in Oregon’s sun-grown/outdoor classes, with some of the most flavorful 1:1 strains around.

As such, Alter is one of the first farms I think of when I think of the purest of pure, true Oregon craft cannabis, cultivated with the magic of nature and the hard work of dedicated human hands.
Since I regretfully only snagged an eighth of this Strawberry Fizz this is going to be a shorter review than I do with my quarter ounce reviews, simply because my time with this girl is truncated, comparatively.
Appearance: Big Juicy Green Strawberries
Taking queues from mother nature pays off and these gorgeous little strawberry-shaped nugs are proof of it.
Vibrant mossy greens are tempered with with smatterings of red rust pistils, well intact, indicative of well-cultivated and gently harvested and trimmed flower.
The love is evident and pours forth its sweet strawberry perfume once broken apart and tossed in the ole grinder.

Smell: Freshly Plucked From Grandma’s Garden
My grandma’s berry gardens are some of my fondest backyard memories from childhood and opening my bag of Strawberry Fizz teleports me with a big hit of perfectly ripe strawberry with a hint of chemy-bubblegum goodness.
Strawberry Fizz is supposed to be a big bouncy playful strain effects-wise and you get an upfront and honest preview of that from the aroma.
Being an Alien Genetics cross of the famous Red Pop strain and Archive Seedbank’s “MoonArc” strain, this is a modern classic that is just as big and red-fruity as any of today’s hot fruit strains, but instead of leaning on the intense candied sugar side of things she instead features a more sour, tingly nose.

Sensation: An Instant Summertime Classic
As with fashion and beer, my tastes change quite a bit depending on what season I’m in, particularly what the temperature is and how much sunlight I’m getting.
Flannel, stouts, and GMOs seem to beckon me more frequently in winter months whereas citrus fruity strains often grab my attention first in warmer sunnier months.
Strawberry Fizz is no exception and was an obvious choice when sampling the smells that Oregon Coast Cannabis had to offer, the up-beat and outgoing premonitions ascertained from my shnoz manifesting once blazed.
Whether wrapped up in joint-form or devoured via a waterpipe and ball vape Strawberry Fizz consistently lifted me up, setting my spirits on cloud 9 and freeing my mind to be as productive or unproductive as it saw fit.
While you CAN get a lot done smoking Strawberry Fizz it’s not really a racy, laser-focus type of energetic weed. It is instead a sparkly treat, fizzing its way through your system, lighting up your sensations and smoothing over any bumps you may encounter post-sessioning.

Summary: A Great Sunshine & Fun Smoke
Overall I’ve really enjoyed the small amount of Strawberry Fizz I had, which makes sense as everything the crew at Oregon Coast Cannabis has recommended to me, including some killer ’79 Skunk a couple years ago.
This wasn’t my first Alter Farms rodeo, and I look forward to sampling more of their carefully crafted flower in the future.
Strawberry Fizz is in my opinion a modern classic because while the terpene profile is as accurate a reflection of strawberry as you can get, it is done so with two more modern strains in Red Pop and MoonArc.
Perhaps “restomod genetics” is a more apt description, stolen from the automotive world, which eludes to a classic car that features subtle modernizations to make it more drivable while retaining it’s vintage aesthetic.
Strawberry Fizz offers a beautifully straightforward Strawberry experience with some very special parent genetics that are sure to put a smile on your face, or at least precipitate a bit of lip-licking after your first big whiff.
