Citrus is one of the most common terpene profiles found in cannabis and one of my favorites.
Citrus notes in cannabis, including lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, and tangerine, are driven primarily by limonene, the same compound responsible for the sharp scent of citrus peel. Terpinolene adds a softer, rounded fruitiness, while ocimene contributes a sweeter tropical-citrus edge.
Esters and flavonoids also play a supporting role in fleshing out the full citrus profile. Popular citrus-forward strains include Lemon Haze, Tangie, Clementine, Agent Orange, Super Lemon Haze, and Mimosa.
